Hydrogen Jukebox and Ezra Severin

September 26 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

Be sure and drop by the Spencer Creek Market this Saturday, September 26th, for performances by Hydrogen Jukebox in the morning, followed by Ezra Severin and afternoon.

Chico’s Hydrogen Jukebox is the world of Dennis Soper (bass guitar), Nathan Moore (drum set) and Chico Schwall (guitar and singing). We play original music (songs by Chico) and a variety of other music we describe as Billie Holiday to Billy Bragg. We have two pretty serious blues scholars in the group and our sources go back a century. We also feature contemporary songs and songwriters including Pat MacDonald, Sam Phillips, Eddie Cochran and Gram Parsons and groups like The Oyster Band and XTC. We like the trio format because you can hear everything all the time and we can really play off one another. It’s always a bit different and always fun.

Ezra Severin is a solo singer-songwriter based in Eugene, Oregon, specializing in folk songs both old and new, celebratory and mournful. His previous project, The Meriwethers, was a multimedia educational adventure that featured the unsung voices of Lewis & Clark’s Corps of Discovery, playing from the headwaters of the Missouri to the mouth of the Columbia. The project also brought music, art, and creative writing into under-served elementary school classrooms across southern Oregon, in partnership with the Britt Music & Art Festival’s Education and Outreach program. Prior to that he was a founding member of Hamfist – a band cobbled together from friends and colleagues at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, who would often play a show for nothing more than steak and pie. Reach out to Ezra via email.
